Toronto Attracts Tech Workers from Around the Globe

With the tightening of immigration policies by the Trump administration, executives from Amazon, Microsoft, Apple, and Google have complained that it will cost them valuable talent. Canadian tech companies, however, are not complaining. They saw an increase in job applicants from abroad last year due to the stricter immigration laws in the U.S. and other countries. If you are considering relocating to Canada for a job opportunity, contact Canadian Visa Expert. Their team of experts will assist you in applying for the required visa to live and work in Canada.

In a recent study of 55 tech firms with more than $1 million in revenue, 53% saw an increase in international applicants. The study by an innovation hub that provides venture services, funding and facilities to new companies in and around Toronto, MaRS Discovery District, reports 45 percent of the companies reported international hires last year. The US immigration laws are not the only thing driving this trend. The Canadian government put in motion a new “global skills strategy” that expedites visas to lure more international talent. Over a third of the companies listed in the MaRS report said they took advantage of the government program and hired workers from China, India, Brazil, the United States, and the United Kingdom. The educated talent pool consists of almost three-fourths engineers or data scientists. Your one-stop shop of immigration services is Canadian Visa Expert.
